Hastings Pirate Day, A world record attempt is taking place and they need 3000 people to dress as pirates to break the World Record. Meet at the Lifeboat Station at The Stade at 1pm. It’s followed by a procession of the pirates to the Priory Meadow Shopping Centre and back to the Old Town. There’s also live music in Queens Square at Priory Meadow from 11am with The Pyrates Band and The Fiddle Choir. PLEASE NOTE: To meet the Guiness criteria pirates should have the following:- Pirate Hat or Bandana and eye patch Striped or white T-Shirt or plain shirt. Pantaloons, tatty or rolled up trousers (Hareem pants) or pirate style skirt. Accessory such as a sword, musket, pirate flag or parrot.

Step inside a world of Saxons and Normans and witness soldiers preparing armour, see tradesmen carrying out woodwork and learn about traditional cooking methods. You can even take part in a naval battle when a 30ft. replica Norman longboat will be at the site across the weekend. There’s demonstrations of arms and armour from the time of the Battle Of Hastings plus youngsters can take part in shield painting workshops and have a go at some fun battle tactics too.
